Song Review : Sannhet – Salts
Sannhet is a brooklyn based post-rock, post-metal, noise band. They have been aound for some years now and I remember listening to them the first time on their 2013 debut album – Known Flood. A really good album that I’ve been listening a lot to, since then. I think Sannhet has a lot blackgaze over their sound as well and that is quite enjoyable
Also their second album Revisionist was worthwhile listening to. Now Sannhet is releasing a new album ‘So Numb’ august 25, 2017, and here we have the first track from the album to tease us.
The song is called ‘Salts’ and I think that Sannhet has made a more quiet and way more post-rock sounding song that I would expect from their hands.
‘Salts’ starts up very quiet with guitar and synth like sounds, and rest of the song is most of all one long dark build up. Something a bit different on this song, is the guitars, that, I think have a reminiscence of 80’s goth. I really hear Sisters Of Mercy or Fields of the nephilim in the guitar soun. Not quite as noisy and post-metal, black like earlier releases but ,ore a majestic opener, I think.
If ‘Salts’ is an indication of the rest of the album, I think we’re in for a somewhat different Sannhet album, but I hope there will still be some of their blackgaze stuff around, although ‘Salts’ is very welcome.
I think it’s beautiful with it’s memorable guitars and the cool production. I look forward to listen to the album in full by august.
Sannhet also released ‘Way Out’. Another song, from So Numb. ‘Way Out’ also shows a more post-rock Sannhet than we’re used to. It’s exciting to hear what the new album will be like in full
